CSR  AS CULTURAL SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Film screening and networking event - The Hub King's Cross 18th February 7pm

Diana Mavroleon in conversation with Sergio López Figueroa

  • Why is culture outside of the CSR agenda or under represented by social enterprises?
  • Are cultural enterprises committed to social change?
  • What is the common language of CSR, Cultural and Social Enterprises?

Welcome to the screening of the documentary Building Fragments showing the process involved in the making of the silent digital film Delhi City Symphony.

Background

In 2009 a group of disadvantaged children living in shelter homes in Delhi participated in the creation of a documentary about the city shooting around their neighbourhood, the streets and a Heritage site, coming up with their own views about social and environmental issues affecting the city. As a result of this participatory creative process they also engaged with their own musical heritage producing new music for the film in collaboration with classical indian musicians. The live performance took place on World Heritage Day at India Habitat Centre, one of the central cultural venues in the city. After the project finished we were left with the question: What next? How can this model benefit communities in the UK and Globally?

Global City Symphony

Are you a member of a local community organization?
Are you working with ethnic minorities specially with young people?
Are you interested in expanding further the international links between local communities?

We will be questioning the issues of local communities involvement in contributing to the design of their cities  and the creative use of audio visual heritage for learning purposes. This event is an open discussion with the audience and a network opportunity.
